June 14th - July 10th 2004. mon - fri 11am - 5pm, sat - 10am - 1pm, or by appointment. (preview 12th June, 3pm - 6pm) The circus of DEATH is a set of a thirteen digitally manipulated and constructed photocollages. This brand new series of work makes reference to the wars, bombings, invasions, sanctions and other violent acts of aggression and exploitation that make up the modern day imperialism of the United States and its allies. This devil's dozen utilises an abundance of imagery, merging visual references and symbolism. Combining the style of broadcast news and corporate icons with the stereotypes of 'evil' and the archetypes of cinematic war films. STATES of hypocrisy is a set of six large scale adjoining digital prints and can be seen as a further exploration of issue based photomontage. This set of work acts as both commentary, response and opposition to the current UK/US war franchise; combining recent and historical events in the western worlds theatre of war, along with reference to the hypocritical nature of warfare politics. These works were started prior to the 'official' invasion of Iraq in 2003 and completed in 2004 after the 'official' end to hostilities.
