Hi,
I'm a lens based visual artist, interested in temporary
public art, interventions and site specific works. I am keen to explore
working away from galleries, looking at developing work that people come across
and respond to in the context of everyday life. A recent commission involved
collaborating on 'Shifting', a project which used a caravan as the basis for the
work. The caravan was transformed inside and out, into an interactive piece
exploring inner and outer worlds and the tension between them. Mirrored on the
outside and containing a floral two seater 'cinema', the caravan and the two
artists travelled to various locations around Dumfries and Galloway over a
period of three days. I'm hoping that this project can be developed and taken
further afield to other areas of Scotland and beyond next
year.
I also work with video and photography in the context of
community arts and am at present working on an international project with young
Travellers from Scotland and young Roma in Europe.
I live in rural Dumfries and Galloway, and while my work
takes me all over Scotland, I am interested in the role that new media can play
in a rural context.
Please get in touch if you are interested in any of the
above,
Jo Hodges
