ally WALLACE
Foiled
Much of ally WALLACE's work is involved with creating interventions with architectural spaces. He has used lightweight materials such as paper, lighting gels and foil to create works which form a physical and visual relationship to the building around them. The use of light often features in the work, whether it’s natural or artificial light, in day or night situations. He has produced window-based work in the past, where the piece is designed to be seen from the street. Working in the space over the duration of the week, WALLACE will sellotape lengths of tin-foil together to make one large sheet, the dimensions of which will be almost the same as the height and width of the space. This sheet will be suspended from the ceiling and will reach right down almost to the floor, as well as stretching across the space. It’ll be hung parallel to the street; about two meters back from the window.
