Thanks for your help Ronny Suy Ronny, The atmega256x are somewhat special, a better starting point than the template could be the atmega2561 project (same directory). It is the one that I use to check the sources. At least it compiles cleanly (enogh), from time to time I put them on a controller and found no problems so far.
