Thanks Erich. I’ve completed the first step. With the help of the kind folks over at avrfreaks.net I have been able to integrate the latest Atmel Assembler (2.2.8) and AVR-Dx .inc files into the amforth tools download. I have an updated Atmel-Assembler.tgz file ready to upload.
