Rakesh, I'm glad it worked out. Keep in mind that my very "basic" DDE config is aimed at pulling in bid/ask data. If you want just "regular" price & volume data you are probably better off with one of the usual configurations as described in the AB DDE document.
On the other hand, I also use my config to pull in calculations I perform in excel. For example I use option's implied volatility (iv) which are intense loops. I perform these using a macro in excel and the resulting excel cell I'd call, say, XYZZZ_iv and AB simply treats this as a ticker symbol: let excel do the heavy duty calculations and AB the final analysis and the plotting. This is also why I don't use the volume field: for the very few symbols I actually want volume I simply create tickers like MSFT_volume.
