Ed, The issue is not with IBc, I think. The automatic backfill function is a part of regular software. Since nobody came forward telling it is working, I am suspecting that it is NOT working properly for large number (more than 60) of symbols.
I also want to note that the version 1.4.4 worked flawlessly before. But with new TWS version both 1.4.4 and 1.5.x are not working appropriately. If you use an old TWS version (854?), try IBplugin 1.4.4. That worked great before. Because I want to use a new function in TWS 846, I am doing manual backfills nowadays :(. I am suspecting that the backfill speed get slower after some points, then 'timeout' occurs. Once 'timeout' occurs, the IB plugin assumes that the backfill is not possible (saying this is demo a account) and does not try to backfill anymore. I am not sure whether it is possible or not, but if IB plugin moves to the next symbol or retries after 'timeout' then at least the majority of symbols will be backfilled, I guess. Anyway, I can say it is probably not you. This function is not working properly anymore (at least to me).
