I'm afraid we use yahoogroups out of habit, William. I subscribe to 81 ob dem, but a quick check shows no msgs on some since '01 :)
Those set for email-subscription often suffer from late or missing messages. I expect yahoogroup popularity will fall off now that push-based delivery has resurfaced via RSS and other XML feeds. It has email notifications but from what I see doesn't have the option for email subscriptions which is the main stumbling block, Yahoo groups provides both web and email subscription. Not to mention as Tomasz just pointed out there is already a web based forum.
