I saved this thread as I have had rather painful experiences with
Dell and wanted to share them with the group, but I am posting only
now as I have not had much time on my hands lately.

Hope this is of some help and can save you time and perhaps even
money...

IMO, the only edge Dell has is in its marketing department. These
people could sell you their grandmother as a virgin... ;)

I have had two Dells, the one I am using right now is the second
one. My experience with Dells can be summarized in one word:
horrific!

The first one lost sound after 6 months or so, this one fried two of
my extra monitors so I am now using only one. Well, at least I found
out that I could trade using only one monitor, but I am not sure if
the price for this knowledge was fair.

So my advice regarding Dells is this: stay as far away from them as
possible! That's not only my opinion, many people have reported
similarly bad experiences. I wish I took them more seriously...

And, did I mention that in my second Dell the floppy drive refuses
to function? It does not read my floppies, so I have no way to
transfer files by floppies. Nice job, Dell, nice job...

Best Regards,
Wally
