I just organize my AFLs by folders inside the Custom folder. I have even taken to organize Include files in sub-folders in some cases. Note that I use my own Include folder inside my Custom folder. This way I can backup all my AFLs and Includes by just archiving the Custom folder.

As to limits, I believe there are some, but I don't know what they are. I have occasionally received the "out of space for custom indicators message". Running indicator maintenance has fixed that issue so far.

I also load all my charts as linked charts. This has drawbacks; i.e., you'd better be careful editing ;-)

I save version numbers of the files to keep track of changes when I'm making more than just minor edits. The benefits (of using linked charts) are you don't have tons of temporary files around and when you make a change, it's can be easily found since I'm editing the main file, AND it affects all other versions of the same chart in my other databases or chart panes.

Note to new users: If you are not programming most of your own AFLs, then I would not use the Linked mode for charts. Just double-click the chart to install it.

Here's a couple of screen shots of my folder lists:

Hi Ken,

I too would like some of the pro's to share how they manage a large number of indicators.  What file structure do you set up or use?  What naming conventions?  Do you use formula editor or a 3rd party editor like Ultra Edit?

Subject: [amibroker] Indicator Maintenance

Can someone tell me where the limits on indicators is explained and how the Indicator Maintenance Wizard works. Actually, I ran it so I know what it does step by step, but am curious what the "rules" are about its use.  For example, I have a bunch of indicators in Formulas>Custom, with a variety of subfolders under Formulas, plus I have a large inventory housed in My Documents.  I do not necessarily want to delete any of these, and dont want to spend the time reviewing each one to see whether I want to keep it or not.  What is the program limit on these (I never thought there was a program limit), and why is there such a limit?

Any comments?

Thanks,

Ken
