Who is to say that angles are or are not a useful
tool? The possibility of using them profitably either
individually or in combination with other indicators/charting tools cannot be
ruled out by anyone. To be sure, as Eckhardt and many others have noted,
the slope/angle is a function of units and price/time scaling so a standardized
approach is needed to ensure that the user is getting the expected result,
reflecting the well known problem of angle relative to a computer
screen or relative to the x-y axis. Given that caveat, if someone
wants to use angles in one way or another I say go for it. If it is
profitable good and if not there are other approaches. The same can
be said for any methodology from trendlines to Gann analysis. How
should a trendline be drawn? Using High/Low or Open/Close or
with/without long tails or etc.? All of these options have been
discussed "forever" and in the last analysis each person will find a technique
that works for them. Ditto for every other charting/analysis
tool.
