Dick,
I also have a database set up using those files. I have two issues with it. First it does not contain all of the coded stocks and  some of the stocks it does contain have either changed or have incorrect coding.  Just the NYSE has 2074 coded stocks, AMEX has over 1,200 and I haven't worked up the figures on NASDAQ and OTC yet, but I am convinced the # will be higher than the 8,000 stock shown by the database set by the existing ticker.  I may be nit picking, but I would like to be as current as possible.

I am still trying to figure out how the creators of the industry data file that is in the Hemscott file section arrived at their IndustryID #, because it doesn't relate to the Hemscott Industries ID in any way that I can see. All of the Hemscott ID are 3 digit numbers, but the ticker has 1, 2 and 3 digits.  I have requested information on how the number was arrived at, but have not gotten any reply yet.

Thank you for your reply, but I am still working on getting answers.

Don,
I set up the Hemscott database over a year ago and switched to it from
the orignal US Stocks db at that time. No problems and industries
match Yahoos.  All the necessary files ...Industy, Sectors and symbols
are available from the files section at this site. So, unless you are
taking a differenct approach it would simplify your task to check this
out.
