Thanks again.....8-)

The mutually exclusive thing could be a problem as I want watchlists (or Group lists) of the components (stocks) held in 30 or 40 ETFs.  The same stock could be in more than one ETF....hmmmmmm.....maybe two databases will be needed.

Hello again  8 - )

A couple of things that come to mind -

1. Unlike watchlists, Groups category is mutually exclusive, i.e. - a ticker can only belong to one group, so if you move tickers into a new group they will be removed from the old one.

2. You will probably want to do a "retrieve" ( like you just did to import the MF's ) on a regular basis in order to get new tickers, name changes, etc into your AB database. I seem to recall, in the past, rearranging some categories only to have my changes reset to the defaults whenever I did a retrieve. I don't know if this still happens, but you may want to do a little test before putting too much work into it.

Subject: [amibroker] Deployment of Watchlists

I would appreciate some advice on the following:

I have two schemes for composites of watchlists and the number of watchlists I wish to keep exceed the 64 number of built in watchlists.  IOW, I have one system of some 45 separate watchlists and another with an equal or slightly higher number.

I have thought about using the Groups list, which seems to have more than enough "slots" to accomodate the extra lists I want to keep, but what are the downsides to sticking them in there?

Should I create another database (drawing both from the same data source-QP3) and use the watchlists in one for one system/scheme and the other database's watchlists for the other??

Advice would be appreciated.
