I just opened my database 6 times.   The first 5 times I connected
fine.   The 6th time it had a yellow "wait" on it and did not connect.

Therefore I have replicated your problem. 

I don't think it has anything to do with number of symbols.   I'm
guessing you have found a potentially undocumented limitation that
esignal places on an account.   I would suggest contacting their
technical support group to ask them this.
