Joe,

actually it was not so long ago :-)
AFL 2.80 = AmiBroker 4.80
(AFL version numbering scheme is different, because
AFL 1.0 appeared in AmiBroker 3.0 then AFL 2.80 appeared in (2.80-1.00)+3.0
= AmiBroker 4.80)

This is excellent, and it's been there since 2.80. Sorry about that - I'll
have to redouble my
efforts to  "READ THE MANUAL!"

Thanks Tomasz

Joe,

Right now it is easier because of Asc function
http://www.amibroke <http://www.amibroker.com/f?asc> r.com/f?asc

So you don't need to code 66, or 83 and 88 but you just do:
AddColumn( IIf( BuyLong, Asc("B"), IIf( SellShort, Asc("S"), Asc("X") ) ),
"B/S", formatChar ) ;

Ken, I remember seeing that you could print ASCII codes in the explore
columns
but whether there's an ASCII character that will suit your purposes is
another matter.
How about a ^ for up and a > for sideways,... just kidding.

This is from TJ quite a while back.

JOE

AddTextColumn(WriteIf(BuyLong==1,"B", WriteIf(SellShort==1,"S",
"X")),"B/S");    // <==== Problem area

write:

AddColumn( IIf( BuyLong, 66, IIf( SellShort, 83, 88 ) ), "B/S", formatChar
);

where 66, 83, 88 are ASCII codes of letters B, S and X respectively.

No symbol, but you could use text/background colors.

Subject: [amibroker] Symbol within AA Results Cells

Is it possible to insert a symbol (like shapeuparrow) within a cell in a
results table? I have written a AddTextColumn and used a WriteIf statement
to put in words describing a trend, such as "Up Trend" if a parameter is
above a certain value and "Down Trend" if the value is below a certain
value.

I would like to have a green up arrow or red down arrow instead of the text
described above.

Is this possible?

If not, how might you achieve an automation of some sort (say with the
exported table rather than within AB itself) so you could put said symbol in
the cells instead of words?

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Ken
