Used correctly, they are very valuable for identifying support and resistance levels and much more. I learnt some rather useful techniques from Gordon DeRoos (www.pitchforkprimer.com). I tend to use PFs along with a couple of indicators for additional confirmation. Hope this helps. (Will try to send out an example later).
