Probably the first instance of AB but I don't know if that can guaranteed.
AQ can NOT be directed to a specific instance. The only way I know of to be
sure is have only one instance of AB running.

A related question - If for instance I have two instances of AB running one
with a database of US stocks and another with a database of Indian stocks
and I download US stock data from yahoo via AQ, which database will AQ send
the downloaded the data to when I give the command for importing data into
AB to AQ? Will AQ select the chronological sequence and dump the data into
that instance of AB which was executed first? Can AQ be directed to dump the
data into a selected database while running two or more instances of AB
using different databases?

Yes it is.

YOU MUST HAVE AMIBROKER RUNNING in parallel.

1. What about first starting AB and then AQ ? Same problem ? AQ still
running after
you've started AB ? If not, AQ must give error message ...
2. Check in your Windows Task Manager if more than 1 Broker.exe is running
and cancel
that task. Something I have seen several times ...

Good suggestion, I just sent support an email. I have exhausted my own
attempts to fix it.

If others do not have this problem, perhaps it is a setting in your AB that
should be changed. Have you discussed this with the support desk (

Subject: [amibroker] have to reboot PC to see new data

I have mentioned this here several times, but not seen any confirmation that
others are having this specific problem.

In recent months a problem I did not have previously has appeared.

I launch Amiquote, update EOD data from Yahoo.

I then launch Amibroker. Charts do not show new data (candles for days
addded by download).

I reboot PC, launch Amibroker, new data appears in cahrts.

I have not found any way to get new data to appear without rebooting PC.
This happens on my desk PC and also on my laptop.

Currently I am running AB 4.96 beta. I believe this problem began a couple
of versions back, but not sure it is an AB problem. It might be a Windows
problem, I do not know.

The AQ files do get updated by the download, but as I said, i have to reboot
PC to get AB to read new data.

Any one else see this? Any solution?

I used to start everyday by updating data with AQ, then launch AB and go.
Now I have to reboot.
