Retrieval of intra-day data from yahoo in my opinion is a penny wise pound
foolish solution as far as I can make out. Why? There are no systems to take
care of any break in data continuity. This solution(?) though is not very
different from the option of using data from IB to feed AB. Maybe this is a
developing alternative to the existing quote vendors. Even in the U.S.
they(yahoo) are trying to develop a quote vending business and are selling
subscriptions for 10-15$ per month if I am not mistaken.

Insofar as this particular case goes an Indian user had come across the
possibility of using AQ to get real time quotes from yahoo and detailed the
method for doing so here. Some people are trying it out. Will they be able to
trade successfully with it? That will be known in time I guess. Yahoo data
in India is supposed to be real time free of cost. If they are able to
maintain data/service quality there is not much that should stop them from
becoming a viable alternative to other quote vendors provided that the
solution involving use of AQ can be further developed with the addition of a
backfill service to cover any breakdowns in connectivity etc

Well, what they have done is write a small script which shall get the
Quotes from Yahoo and save it on local HDD. Then using Java Scripting, the
same is imported into AmiBroker. The script when running, pings Yahoo and
fetches the At the moment quotes for the scrips specified which is then
appended into the Text file and using JS imported into AmiBroker.

The best part is that they call themselves as RT Data Providers ;).

 Hello Dingo,

There was a document (mail sent on 15-04-2007 by Hetal Thakkar) sent
across and also much discussion about the same. I have tried it out and it
does work though with a couple of drawbacks.

The main thing is that if you ping Yahoo Server say every One minute, it
gives you a fresh quote. Using this facility, its possible to use AmiQuote
to get Intra-day data from Yahoo.

Cheers

Prashanth

Who told you that you can get intra-day data from Yahoo via Amiquote?
