Hello David, Thanks for the feedback. There are some good ideas there. I think most of us would agree with your points and you have summarized very nicely what, IMO, AmiBroker is all about; contemporary trading applications, for and by traders.
I know that Herman and I are both interested in leaving behind old TA methods that don't work and pushing the boundaries on new methods that do work today. FTR. I think the 'Welcome' address, and the mission statement at the UKB sum it all up: "Share your experiences, code and everything with other AmiBroker Users'." (and very nicely written too!) That's what it is all about really; writing for each other and holding a swapmeet for AmiBroker knowledge. When I asked Herman about guidelines for UKB content he said: "Think of this site as TASC (the journal) for AmiBroker users. Content may vary just as widely." The 'Authors' involved at present are definitely trading orientated (BTW we forgot to mention Dingo, who is also supportive but flat out at the moment). We have started with some set pieces but will work up to more application orientated, plus developmental material, in the future. The strength of the UKB is that it is a platform for multiple authors with different styles and interests, so as we progress the strength and variety of content should take care of itself. It just so happens that I am writing on behalf of 'newbies' at the moment, although I do try to make each post, or series of posts, go from 'no previous experience required' to 'being able to do something quickly ' plus 'a hint or two of trading stuff' thrown in as well. Since I complained to Tomasz enough times about 'easier access to information for newbies' and 'more pictures' plus 'more tabulation' plus 'more training material' I guess it is my karma now to have to write some of it myself. I don't know about 'short and sweet". Dingo reckons I write tomes. I try to put the required amount into a tutorial; no more nor less than required. I will get bored with writing 'help manual' type material soon enough and move on to become just another background user interested mainly in my own trading. You never know, I might throw in some trading goodies here and there. Thanks once again for your interest and encouragement.
