Hi Pete. Although MLDownloader for me is a nice download program,
I have some practical remarks. Most items can be downloaded with
AmiQuote from Yahoo, MSN etc. In case you will not find the data on these
sources, my experience with MLDownloader is that you will not get the
data with this program either. The problem is that to find a source is only
one side of the medal. To get the data from a Page is the other side.
You therefore need to write a very simple definition script that instructs the
program ( Parser ) how to get the data from the Page. You cannot do this
with AmiQuote and you cannot do this with MLDownloader either ...

This is the reason why I am using a program called StockBrowser. Already
for many ( 12 ) years and without any serious problems. In case I find a Page
somewhere that has important data for me and that is not coming from Yahoo,
MSN etc. etc. , all I do is writing the Source and Definition file for
Stockbrowser
and let the program automatically download the data during the night with the
StockBrowser scheduler. Of course the program is not cheap ...
IT'S FOR FREE ...

You can find it in Holland on many WebSites like :

http://members.home.nl/d.koek/download.html

I hope to see the same functionality in AmiQuote somewhere, somehow,
some day in the near future. Just because I prefer 'all in one' applications ...

Regards, Ton.

BTW : StockBrowser can export in whatever file format you define or you
can even work with the by StockBrowser supported DDE communication. It's
a pity that AmiBroker doesn't let StockBrowser send her the data by DDE but
also this can be done in a different way ...

I too use MLDOWNLOADER. Great product.

This weekend I posted an empty Amibroker Database file to this group
that was created from the MLDownloader files (.MLD). It was quite
simple to do because MLDownloader has 1 file for each
market/group/sector etc... that you want to look at. I took the
standard MLD files (plus a few of my own), converted them into CSV
files and used a JScript to update the Amibroker DB.

  NLDownloader = Very usefull tool.

the only thing it lacks, is that it doesn't downloader fundamental
data which is where AmiQuote comes in very usefull.

  Regards,
  Pete
