Don, You *CAN* save (i.e. export to) AFL with trial version.
What you can not do is to save "project" for later editing. Project is an xml file readable by AFL Wizard that holds more information than AFL. In order to save you must do a one time purchase of $49.00. It comes along with AmiBroker. No extra Charge. 2. As of now a lot of rules can be automatically defined using the pre-sets. Since this is a Ongoing project, I believe it will get enhanced in future. 3. Defnitely, since it teaches the way to write simple AFL's.
