This is not a direct answer to your request, but may solve the underlying need.
Before running your backtest, click on the Settings... button (From the Automatic Analysis window), then click on the Report tab and select the "Detailed Log" for the result list option. This will show detailed description of your portfolio at each bar, including the number of open positions.
