I think you have proven that the setting in database properties limits the max number of bars per symbol. So it is not a secret anymore.
In my case dealing with futures I wanted to save a whole contract (3 months) worth of tick data per symbol. I had to increase the number of bar to 800,000 Some symbols have reached 23 MB in size. I keep importing data from back up files and it keeps going poof. I have a 320 gig HD so space isn't a problem. Keeping the data around is a problem.
