This problem has been for a while. It is applicable mostly to iShares ETFs. The error message means that you do not have access to Archipelago Exchange. The backfill from ARCA is not free. I contacted IB Technical Support and they advised me to switch to Stock(dedicated) and select ISLAND, which is free. I can see historical graphs using TWS (quite useless), but I couldn't downloaded data into AB. I explained the situation to IB and I was told that very likely AB's backend is not structured to get historical data from ISLAND but rather via SMART, which goes by default to ARCA. All we need is a change to AB plugin. Tomasz, could you confirm this ?
