Two things: 
    -You have to include the path in the indexed folders
    -After both setting you have to rebuild the index

Sounds very logical but still doesn't work.  Just in case it had something to 
do with the folder location, I put a copy of the afl files in the Document 
folder of Vista.  Still no luck.

 

It is hard to believe that this capability is missing.

Hi,

My guess:
Control Panel, Indexing Options, Advanced buttom, File Types tab. 
Look for AFL file type. 
Change settings to Index Properties and File Contents.
