Keith,
This same thing happened to me when I was creating a new virtual
machine to debug a virtualization issue. I followed these same
steps. I finally abandoned that approach and copied my virtual
machine over to the new hardware to get an exact copy. It was not
that hard to put the window arrangement back the way I wanted it, so I
speculated that I could have just copied some of the keys that were
not part of that arrangement. However, I did not try it. It seems
like the labels are dynamically allocated depending on the order of
the tabs or something like that which keeps them from matching up when
copied over directly.

Dennis

Thank you for your response. I had already done steps 1 and 2. So
then tried step 3.
It sorta worked. However, now I have:
a. Equity Information in the Alert toolbar,
b. <enter your notes here> in the Interpretation toolbar,
c. Interpretation comments in the Information toolbar.
And, I forgot to backup the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\TJP\ section.

Just looked up the messages in 4/17/08 - 4/19/08 and took TJ's
advise. Deleted:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\TJP\Broker\DockingPaneLayouts\
That brought back the 'default' layout, which is my favorite one
anyway. So now, all is well with the world (at least my AB part).
BTW, that was nice of you to give the dates. I save all AB forum
postings in Thunderbird. Found them in just a few seconds.
And again, thank you.

Hello,
1. Run the install on target machine (this is required only for
registering
OLE servers) 2. Then copy entire AB folder with all subfolders.
3. If you want to keep also your customized toolbars, you need to
export the
following registry key with all subkeys, using RegEdit:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\TJP
and import it on target machine (just double click on .reg file
that was
exported)

Subject: [amibroker] Transferring configuration of floating panes
to laptop?
I just copied all of "Program files\Amibroker\" from my main
computer to
my laptop, in order to bring my laptop "in sync" with my main
computer". However the arrangements of the Symbols, Layouts, Layers,
Charts, Information, Notepad, etc. panes did not transfer.
Is there any way transfer their configuration?
I do not want to configure them manually -- it takes me FOREVER.
Once they are configured, I would love to LOCK them in place so I
couldn't move them accidentally!!!
TIA
