Has it ever worked? 

This seems to be a set up problem. To connect to TWS you have to have Java and 
TWS installed. If you can log onto TWS on your system you have Java and TWS 
installed. You appear to have that working.

In Ami you need to create a minute database and specify the IB plugin. Make 
sure that you have the latest IB plug in and the latest TWS version. When you 
create a minute data base make the number of bars at lest 100,000 or you will 
start truncating data and wonder why it is getting lost.

In TWS you have to configure it to connect to Ami. To to Configure > API and 
enable activeX and socket clients.

If you plan to do auto trading you need to download the BrokerIBC.exe from Ami 
website. Make sure you have the latest level of this.

If you want to use a paper trading account you have to set that up under 
account management in IB.
