I don't know about receiving email notifications from the feedback centre but
it doesn't seem to be an AB policy elsewhere.

I can offer a general opinion though.

OT: Warning - psychological commentary below.

Local variables:

Everyone who owns AB is participating in the community in one way or another,
either actively or passively (that is not a value judgement since we are all
pursuing different objectives, as we are entitled to do).

Those who chose to be active participants do so in a variety of ways.
Some are very active with formal suggestions (When I tried it I found this to
be hard work and it also requires a good IT skillset so I opted out of
continuing my membership there).

Generally there is a high level of desire, from software users, to participate
in development, which IMO is generic i.e. it is generation specific (see Global
variable comments).... this is a sign of the times, even when our relationships
involve private companies the desire to participate is still high (this
tendency to disentegrate the boundaries between corporations and individuals is
also generic).

In AB's case I think Tomasz deserves commendation for the way he has integrated
AB with the AB community ... he has done this at a level beyond what most
companies have achieved so far (but nowhere near what is possible). How far he
wants to go in that direction is up to him but speaking in general terms,
community participation is a two way street.

The new 'kids on the block' have a high desire for participation but at the
same time they have a high desire for quality responses e.g. if they are going
to 'work for a company for free' (which is what participation amounts to, in
blunt terms) then they expect to receive some of the conditions that paid
employees receive (newsletters, feedback, negotitated outcomes, personalized
responses, recognition etc).

The negative side of the equation is that after all of the participation has
occurred if the community doesn't see their input translated into reality they
end up becoming anti.

The new way of doing things is a big challenge ... sometimes in the forum you
can see me struggling to develop my levels of communication up to the
'expected' standard (by expected I mean generational/community expectations
... this heightening of community expectation is all part of the 'sea change'
that is in the air).

Global variables:

Three wise men were guided by "the Star".

Dual waves is the sign for the new millenium.

This sign implies IT and hence 'rules' (embraces) software companies:

- dual waves == binary systems, machine language, communication (by radio
waves, digital means etc)
- dual waves == harmonious relationships, working in groups, decentralisation,
devolution (group consciousness is central rather than individual
consciousness), leaders are facilitators etc.
- duality == attraction and resistance between polar opposites (the old and the
new, personal interests versus group interest, living in the real world versus
living in the virtual world, subjectity (art)/objectivity (science)
- stretching relationships between opposites and then pulling them back
together again
- forward cyclical motion (this implies that those who go with the flow will
benefit the most from the incoming impetus)

This is the ground state of the dawning new millenium and the "Sun" that the
new shoots (kids) are stretching towards.

It is most operative at the cutting edge of our society where the pioneers of
the NM are congregating ("Here Comes The Sun", the Beatles).

Is communication an art form or a science?
