I am happy with the outcomes because my preference is to learn the underlying principles, and gain understanding, so that I can make any number of solutions in the future, rather than looking for someone to give me an off the shelf solution..... I don't archive anything ... hardly even my own code ... (Tomasz's oneliners on AFL architecture are a striking exception ... usually I rely on memory for the key points but under the circumstances (since the gems are come so rarely) I thought I better make some notes ....I am now up to 10 lines and running the book on whether the complete architecture can be explained in 10 lines or less :-)
Overall the forum gave me some more understanding and I have moved along. Probably it worked for me because between you and bruce every marker I threw down was picked up (well done ... you are always a good forum partner!) Of course some people will prefer an adaptiveStDev builtin and I guess the discussion did motivate Tomasz to consider adding it ... there are so many justifiable improvements though!
