ol Iain just like to mess with the files by hand ;-)
If my memory serves me right...
You could try the files in the AmiTCP directory, there is one file which has
a list of services, and some are commented out with a (#) - you could find
the auth service in one of those text files (use EMacs text editor to do
this or GoldED). I don't know the file name, but I do know it's in the
AmiTCP directory and you probably need to "show all files".
If you don't like getting your hand dirty with services and auth settings -
Have you tried selecting the user "bablos" or whatever you put for new user
in Genesis on the dialup window, before dialling? It does use root as
default because it is probably at the top of the chronological list.
So, don't run AmIRC first, run Genesis dialler, select the user you want
where it says root (it has a pull down menu), then dial up, then run AmIRC
after that. It should not say root. (It will say root if you load AmIRC
before changing the user settings in Genesis).
To prevent having to do this every time, go to Genesis prefs, and simply
drag your "user" above the root, and it will appear on the Genesis dialler
above root. Because you have nothing else above root in the menu, your
"user" is now default.
Sorry if I'm a bit descriptive, as I'm going off by memory. :-)
