I`ve just had an idea. - Not directly related, but i`ve replied to this 
mail because i was reading it when i had the idea :)
Why not have a configuration option that allows you to customise the 
non-standard channel/user modes?
This would work by a list similar to the aliases, where you can enter a 
mode, such as "h", specify whether its a user or channel mode, and give it 
a name. It would also be nice if you could enter in an optional field a 
mask to be used against the VERSION reply of the ircd you`re connected to 
so AmIRC understands that mode X or whatever means one thing on M00IRCd, 
and another on BlehIRCd.

That`s probably easier said that done, but you don`t get unless you ask :)
