As a plain ordinary user, what makes you think there's anything in the latest
version of MUI that you couldn't just as well live without?

The reason only "testers" get to see it is because it's still in development and
testing. It has some features that add pointless graphical fluff to the GUI at
the moment. Hardly stuff requiring an update, for you, the plain ordinary
user.

I assume that if you can see the about window, your copy of MUI still runs?
And the applications that use it still run, don't they? What makes you think
there NEEDS to be a new version if the one you have works fine?
