His son must have been older because this is written at a reasonably high level. In good shape but showing age and wear on covers. Scarce book. $45

Before there was Moore's Receivers and Transmitters books, the only thing available were these volumes from Alton Brand, who was the publisher of the famous Ham Trader Yellow Sheets. The photos aren't great and the descriptions are sometimes lacking. But transceivers are covered and many accessories are included. $15/both volumes. Sylvania Radio Circuit Hints and Sylvania Radio Equipment Hints. These are two pocket-size booklets circulated by Sylvania during the war (1943). Each is about 20 pages. These discuss why certain design principles are important (Circuit Hints) and specific repair problems and techniques for broadcast receivers (Equipment Hints) with emphasis on the VTVM.
