I recently had great success retrofitting my Murch 2000A tuner with a
right-angle drive and a Veeder-Root turns counter. The existing rectangular dial window was exactly the right size to frame the digital readout... looks
great!   I understand the original turns counter was pretty cheesy so this
might be a good option for you.
