I posted a request to a "repeater" group for help in tuning up a 440 repeater. I don't have a service monitor. I got a response from the engineer for KFI here in Los Angeles! I took the repeater to the transmitter site (location of the 750' tower in Los Angeles) and proceeded to get a tour of the site! The Harris 50KW was plugging away, but I wanted to see the real transmitter!

He even flipped the switch and I got to see it glow (modulator tube)! Since the solid state unit was operating, the tube transmitter was switched in to a dummy load in the next room.

All I can say is WOW! I really really really want an old AM transmitter in my garage!

Hey Dino Just keep in Mind that this transmitter will only work On 160 Meters
ok...
I have the smaller Version Of the BTA-1R1, the BTA-500R. 500 watts instead
of 1 kw. It does not take well to conversions to 80 or 40 meters great
sounding transmitter though..
