No doubt, pre-amplified. Also probably not using an original cartridge. However, it -should- work fine, as long as the amp is by-passed. That little transistor amp in the bases of later Astatic D-104 model microphones (for my liking) contains exactly "too much" distortion. 73 = Best Regards, -Geoff/W5OMR
