I have been notified by Advanced Optics Ltd. - these are the folks that
manufacture the Collins reproductions items - that they now have a firm
price on the diamond emblems that mount on the National speakers, etc. For
your information, the emblem that we used for the template came off the
light gray National speaker.
Price will be $35 each or multiple pieces at $30 each, with shipping
included. The deciding factor as to whether this project becomes a reality
is that we can sell a minimum of 20 pieces to break even.
Our profit margin is rather low and we want to keep it that way.
Another thing to look into might be the tiny version used as the main tuning
dial indicator marker on early HRO's. Later, they went to a simple chrome
plated diamond shaped marker, but the early ones were red, simialar to the
larger National logo emblem. Maybe an inquiry in the Antique Wireless
Association bulletin might produce enough interest for a manufacturing run.
There are many collectors of the pre WWII HRO's, and this little emblem is a
common missing item.
