An article covering the conversion of the ART-13 for ham use begins on page 
437.   Modifications of the speech amplifier to include a 6J5 preamp to
permit 
crystal microphone use are described on page 444.   Useful information, but 
for a more up-to-date discussion of modifications and upgrades to
