as for the traps they should be ok i used one for 20 yrs. i did have to add insulation to the outside about every 4 or 5 yrs. i used red insulation dope or you can use black liquid tape to seal the cracks. as for the coax if it is the non foam type and not been outside it should be ok you can short the ends and use a noise bridge to check for loss . old arrl handbooks tell how, if it is rated at a KW AM then you have a very good trap new ones are not rated for AM or RTTY. only problem i see is the rg58 taking a KW AM.. SSB maybe 800 watts .
