Thanks for the excellent, informative post, Phil. That is indeed the station I was referring to. Used to get them in here like gangbusters, made the big old Jensen coaxial floor speaker sing like a canary. They have a pretty interesting history. Thanks also to the others who made suggestions ranging from FM stations to internet feeds. I actually have Dish TV, which has a number of musical channels available including a few Big Band slots. Unfortunately, these options aren't compatible with my SX-28A or other AM receivers. I do listen to the Dish some days, but it's just not the same. One has to wonder what will become of these AM stations in the future? Hopefully some will revert back to more local/regional programming and use. The RA-1000 I hauled home from WGAI in NC last September is a victim of the same business buyout mentality. Now the local area of Elizabeth City is without its hometown station, which is run out of another city with national programming not specific to the area. I'll try to pull in that station from Toronto (Toronno?) this weekend. I did pull in another station with Big Band music a while back, but it was very light copy with a lot of inteference. WCRN 'Swing 830' used to be armchair copy here all day long, which spoiled me a bit. I remember listening to another NY station in high school, WPTR with Shotgun Johnny Ringo, not unlike the Wolfman.
