I used a 51J4 a few years ago, for about a year of listening, before I bought a 75A3. I got real tired of that bandswitch, going from 80 to 10 meters when 10 was open. The 75A3 was much better in that respect. However, I have not been impressed with the Collins sound either, and I use a NRD535D from JRC for casual listening right now. It also has a rather dismal audio stage.
