I've talked with the engineers who sent along pictures. Looking at the images, this stylish, impressive transmitter is unusually CLEAN with the only visible modifications being some resistor replacements and what appears to be a new control board assembly using modern plug in relays. Please take a look at this link. I've talked with a few people, and kindly pass the link along to anyone who has the interest in saving it from the scrap heap.
