In January 1950 CQ magazine page 20 the article " Licking the Regulation Problem" by Joseph Saugier, Jr. W9KSQ describes a electronic bleeder resistor , the 2500 volt 400 ma version used a pair of 211 tubes.At that time 211 were the cheapest tubes in surplus.
