Thanks Larry. I sure appreciate the great response and suggestions I
have received. I decided to go with soldering a small piece of #18
solid copper wire in the slot of each variable and lowering the phenolic
peg onto it. There is plenty of overlap to accommodate the junction and
so far it has worked great.
