There's something to be said for letting "the family" here have first crack at something for which the seller has established his price. In the past, there's been a tendancy to use family conduits like this, the old AM Swap Net, and other venues to scarf up items cheaply and then flip them to buyers elsewhere. The difference in motiviation shifts to one of revenue and away from community spirity and goodwill.
