John, I fully appreciate your position on this. There are many nights that I come in to operate around 8-9:30 PM and hear this type of thing. With the band conditions as they are now interference comes from all over. I am usually disgusted at what I hear and just turn off the rig and forget it unless there is someone to whom I really want to talk.
Heavy metal night is an example. I heard a couple of stations that I had not communication with for several years. I joined the group only long enough to give my greetings to them and signed on the same transmission. Altogether there was probably 10 stations there (3.880). And on 3.878 the Alabama Aflack crowd had their blow torches going and they were almost as loud at the AM group. As much as I hate to say this, you probably would be better moving the net for a couple of reasons I can think. First of all, habit. The groups that meet there are just going to do it. I hear an AM station that comes on at a specific time and call another regularly on 3.880. There is really nothing you can do about it so I suggest moving. Second since the expansion I hear some room on the lower part of the General grant. It would take your net members some time to make the transition, but in the long run, it probably would be best sorry to say. Good luck. I have started monitoring below 3.750 now and, if I operate at all after 7 PM, it will be down there. 73 Jim W5JO From: "John King" > > As a member of AMI, I TRY to check into nets on 3.885 > such as Gulf Coast Mullet Society net and the > Southeast AM Radio Club net.
