Mark, you might consider using something else for the choke.
The R 175 is marginal on 160 meters. If you use one, then
add a series choke of about 1.5 micro henries to tame it.
Other than that, the Ameritron is a good choke if you don't
want to wind you own.

I need a nice plate choke for my 813x2 amp. I was going to
homebrew one now I'm thinking that there will be enough
variables without that. I'm going for operation on all
bands 160-10. So I'd rather use a known good design plate
choke like the National R-175. Anybody got one for sale or
trade?
