Thanks Mike, So basically, the Mic is a great starting point?
I'm going to fit my favorite 6 pin jack tomorrow, then I will be able to interchange mics between my mobile rig and the Johnson. While I am not afraid to modify the radio, I want to keep it looking like it wasn't installed by a Hack ;) Bow W5EFR -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Mike Duke, K5XU Sent: Monday, May 28, 2007 19:17 To: Discussion of AM Radio in the Amateur Service Subject: Re: [AMRadio] Better AM audio for a EF Johnson Messenger2 I remember being amazed as a 10 year-old when a family CB friend changed from the stock Johnson hand mic to a non-amplified Turner desk mic on his Messenger 2. The fidelity improvement was incredible. So, install your favorite mic connector. Then, follow your ears and your instincts. If you want to keep the physical appearance unaltered, just put the connector on a pig tail. I have two Messenger 1 units awaiting restoration myself. At least one of them will end up on 10 meters. The other is so dirty that it may end up as the poster child for a cleaning product.
