And it's a VERY good thing, too!  We were there surfaced in a comfortable
polynya in the summer (August, 1970), and it was a warm and balmy 33 deg
topside.  But we didn't get out before having the #2 scope gnawed on a bit
.. One of the bears actually did try to take a bite :-)
