If that was a R-42 speaker you paid a fairly average price for a very nice
pair. The SX-42 was built 1946-1950. I have its son, the SX-62A with the
R-42 and it is a super BCB, AM SW and FM performer. What audio; pretty much
the same circuit as the SX-42 minus bandspread and S meter. It is a daily
player in my office.
I also have a SX-28 so I still need to fill the big radio/audio sequence
with a SX-42. Did you know that the external design was done by Ray Loewy?
The same guy who gave us the 1953 Studebaker Starlite Coupe; an automotive
milestone.

Bob I agree but I just paid over $500 for an SX-42 and speaker with
shipping on top of that...
You don't want to know what I paid for my DX100B...LOL ...It is called
we buy what we want.
I am sure that an SX42 cost more then $100 in 1938 What is that in
today's $$...

I have a hard time beliveing a SX-100 is worth over $300. But they seem
to sell that high every week. I think I see more of them than any other
vintage receiver!

I think some tend to live in the past, I know I have a hard time
thinking
a
DX100
is worth more than $20.00.
But things have changed and nothing is cheap anymore unless you steal
it from a friend.
